Bleeding Roach

I found an old bleeding roach replicant lure when I was cleaning out the garage, must be an omen so I'll be down the river the weekend to put it into action, wish me luck :) I even added a frame filter for added affect.

Wasperton - 16.10.2011

3 degrees when I turned up a 7.00am, this peg in the past has been good to me, in-fact caught my biggest Chub from here when there was a heavy frost on the ground. Gin clear didn't help but lets just say, with my friend Simon in the next peg and with 4 rods out, 2 with maggot the others with meat or pellet, in 5 hours we didn't even have a bite. I've had nearly 40lb of Chub here before where most of them were over 4lb.

Wasperton can be like that, I've blanked at Wasperton more than anywhere else, it always fishes far better with some colour in the water but hey, that's fishing. What a lovely morning to be out though.

Dusk and an hour into dark has always been the most productive but I do like the winter mornings as I often walk the whole LAA and BAA stretch lure fishing for Pike, I rarely see another soul and it helps there isn't any boat traffic. I've seen bats, snakes, owls, kingfishers, woodpeckers and mink.

Change of subject but I've had some new boots fitted to the Subaru Forester so it's now ready for the winter and the damp and mucky river banks :)

Villamoura, Portugal - 28.09.11

Was away on a family Villa Holiday near Villamoura, so had a few hours reef fishing away from the kids with the father-in-law. Simple paternoster set-up with squid as bait and fished 18 / 19 metres deep.

4 others on the boat and it was hard going, as soon as the bait hit the reef unless you had a proper bite within a few seconds the bait was nibbled away by the small fish. Biggest fish caught turned out to be the skippers dinner, a nice trigger fish.
