Piscatorial Quagswagging

...the diary of a specialist angler in around the Warwickshire Avon and its tributaries.

It’s finished, so I’ll start.

So the first post of my new blog and the river season has just come to a close. Been hard going since Christmas, lots of blanks, angry cormorants, massive minks and hooked fingers. To top it all I lost what would have been my biggest Barbel (Honest).  Before me and my mate Simon Champion start on the quest for specimen Barbel and Chub again I’m looking forward to giving the local lakes, pool and canals a good go. A >2.5lb Perch / Crucian carp would be nice, oh and I’ve never caught a Zander.

The fishing hasn’t been the best but I’ve had some great mornings on the bank, stuck in-front of a CAD screen for hours on end it’s the tonic us SAD sufferers need, the pictures below are from the Avon @ Wasperton, it’s a quiet stretch of the Warwickshire Avon where no boats venture.

As a member of the Leamington and Birmingham Anglers association I can walk and fish the whole length of this lovely stretch of river, from Wasperton village all the way to the weir at Hampton Lucy. Luckily for me its ten minutes down the road.
