Warwickshire Avon - Honey Holes and Honorificabilitudinity

Well the fishing maybe pants but the weather has been very nice indeed however the heat of the midday sun was thankfully quelled by working from the office for the day, where outside the mercury hovered around 30 degrees.

The farmers are still doing their thing though bailing, ploughing and for one farm in particular scratching their heads wondering why a whole field of salad leaves have been ruined. The weeds you see had consumed them like they didn't exist, almost like the river water they'd been watered with contained a weed thriving element on steroids 🤔.

The clear skies have been nice, shooting stars galore and some of the most vibrant sunsets I've seen in a while locally. The fishing has taken a back burner and I'm not quite feeling it at the moment if I'm honest. Still travelling back home from the office I could nip in to see the honey hole where a convergence of water always holds chub despite the foot deep water.

There is lots of oxygen for them to revel in and also it's perfect to lay up waiting for that conveyer of food. The chub are usually in the slack water just in-front of these reeds and when I got bankside and peered through the gap in the ever present urtica dioica, I was in luck.

You see under the polarised sunglasses a group of five chub were ready and waiting and I know from past experience bites come quick. Two looked 5 lb I'd say and the rest 2-3 lbers, I needed to be on the money, which for me is not that easy. So landing net handle extended, bread crust on the hook and an underarm cast thankfully was perfect, and right in the middle of the mosh pit.

One of the bigger chub was on to it straight away but after a couple of nudges with its big blunt head this wise old fish decided something wasn't right...

...then from the right a fish I'd not even picked up on shot out from being tucked in to the reeds and nailed the bread without a care in the world. A fight a small bream would better the chub was in the net quicker than I could say "another one from the honey hole".

All mouth and no trousers, all very bizzare but then I think the fish decided not to fight because of its stupidity.

It's a fair cop governor !! 😂

Still it could be worse you could be even more embarrassed, because an Uber Driver who has forced closure of the Grade I listed bridge Bidford Bridge over the Warwickshire Avon AGAIN !!!.

So big detours for the locals once more, where the villagers of Welford on Avon now in despair because of the increase in traffic that is to come their way. Professional driver(s) don't you know !!

The bridge has a rather large crack on onside where no amounts of 'no more nails' or 'sticks like sh*t' will suffice, this is a job for the professionals. Cost cicra £350k last time something similar happened 🙈 . Talking of which a bridge at one of our syndicate stretches on the river Leam has been severely damaged, there must be something in the water.
