  2. Ah see, persistence on this one will be key! she will feed, fish it as much as you can, the bigger the Barbel the more they have to feed to maintain weight. You will work out her pattern of feeding and not feeding. It's very possible that's not where she feeds, she may feed 30-50m upstream and once finished drops back down to her haunt and if that is her haunt it's possible you won't catch her there, maybe set a little trap upstream, a bit of hemp, 4 & 6mm pellet and introduce what you'll use as a hookbait whether it be meat or boiliee, get that spot going and soon enough that Barbel and others that maybe present will also get in on the act but fishing the "haunt" may not be the best plan of action, unless of course you roll a big bit of spam straight through its front door!!!

    1. All good info James, and it certainly makes sense and yes I've only been fishing the swim where I saw the fish in. There is a bit of extra water on now, in-fact might even be in the fields the next few days, but hopefully that will reveal the slacks where the fish could be hiding out. The wife after her shoulder op is getting better daily so I'm hoping going to start to rack those sessions up.

    2. I wait in suspense! Fingers crossed Mrs Newey has a speedy recovery too.

  3. Very interesting and note James's comments. I have never thought like that. I guess I would eat a burger in any room in my house, except maybe the bathroom. Why do I think a fish is different?
